Volleyball Falls In USCAA Tip-Off Semis

Monaca, PA - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte volleyball team participated in the USCAA Tip-Off tournament, hosted by Penn State-Beaver this weekend.

The Wildcats opened pool play on Friday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep of Penn State Greater Allegheny. JWU won by scores of 25-20, 25-16, and 25-23. Kaylee Atkins led the attack with 12 kills to go along with 11 digs. Kenner Pedigo added 9 kills, while Mikayla Seymour-Tucker recoded 15 digs. Aimee Evans had 6 kills and 7 service aces. Logan Smith and Paloma Camus combined for 34 assists as the Wildcats hit .312 for the match.

JWU faced off with Carlow in their afternoon pool play match, falling to the Celtics 3-1 by scores of 16-25, 9-25, 26-24, and 15-25. Evans and Atkins each tallied 11 kills, with Atkins adding 11 digs. Seymour-Tucker served 5 aces to go along with 8 digs. 

The Wildcats earned the 4 seed in today's bracket play, and again faced off with Carlow, the #1 seed. JWU played well, but could not get past the Celtics, falling 26-24, 25-22, 25-16. Atkins again paced the Wildcats with 11 kills and 14 digs. Evans added 10 kills, while Chanel Garcia recorded 10 digs. Smith dished out a season-high 24 assists, while Sage Franzel posted 6 service aces.

The Wildcats next travel to Cleveland Community College on Tuesday, 9/5 for a 7pm match.
