Fayetteville, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's soccer team scored thrice in each half to knock off host Methodist university on Saturday night.
Lucas Lesh got the Wildcats started early in the first half when he controlled a pass about 15 yards away from goal and then fired it past Methodist Matthew Walker. Lesh then assisted on the next JWU tally less than two minutes later when he lofted a pinpoint pass to a streaking
Andrew Fanelli in front of goal. Fanelli put it away for his first collegiate score. Fanelli returned the favor later in the period as he found Lesh bearing down on goal and Lesh again slotted it past Walker.
Fanelli picked up his second helper of the game nine minutes into the second half as he and
Antonino Terranova played the give and go game to the right of the Monarch goal and Terranova hit the roof of the net far post. JWU's final two tallies came in quick succession late in the match.
Dylan Steeves picked up a loose ball about 25 yards directly in front of the Monarch goal and found
Peter Agelis, who put it away for his first collegiate tally, and then
Eugenio de la Parra Polina closed the scoring less than a minute later as he evaded a couple of Monarch defenders to shoot it past Chris Ranck.
The Wildcats outshot Methodist 20-7, putting 14 of those on frame.
Colin Starr and
Tanner Newport combined for three saves in keeping a clean sheet.
Johnson & Wales returns home on Wednesday, September 6th as they host Pfeiffer at 6pm.
