Winston-Salem, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte defeated Salem College 83-57 on Wednesday night.
The Wildcats raced out to a 24-11 lead after the first quarter, keyed by
Gabby Tapley's six points in the stanza. JWU extended their lead to as many as 21 in the second period, before settling for a fourteen point halftime advantage, 42-28.
Salem crept a couple of points closer after the third ten minutes, but a 14-4 Wildcat spurt late in fourth ended any doubt as to the outcome.
Jordan Durant led JWU with 16 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals.
De'Ashaj Crawford scored 12 points off the bench, while
Laken Powe had 9 points and 8 rebounds.
Johnson & Wales is next in action on Saturday, December 7th when they make the short trip across uptown Charlotte to take on Queens University in an exhibition game at 2pm.
