Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte's men's basketball team sent their seniors off in style with a 114-77 win over Virginia University of Lynchburg on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats turned a tight game in which they led by just four at halftime into a celebratory sendoff with a 32-12 run over the first ten minutes of the second half. JWU continued the offensive onslaught for the rest of the period, leading by as many as 37 points and shooting 61% from the field (25-41) and had as many offensive rebounds (11) as VUL had total rebounds in the period.
Nathan Meshida had 27 points to lead the Wildcats, while
Jaben Mars scored 23 in his final home game. Both
Jaylen Benson-Hollinhead (19 points, 12 rebounds), and
Brandon Summers (13 points, 10 rebounds) had double-doubles.
Cameron Lawson (7 points, 12 rebounds), and
Ethan Smith (9 points, 14 rebounds) just missed out on double-doubles themselves.
JWU's regular season is complete. They now await the reveal of the USCAA National Championship field to determine if they will advance to the postseason.
