Hilton Head, SC - The Johnson & Wales tennis teams continued their Spring Tennis Fest schedule on Tuesday afternoon as they faced the Lancaster Bible Chargers. The men won 5-1 while the women lost 5-2 in matches that were called early due to rain.
The Wildcats men swept the doubles matches, with the #2 doubles pair of
Sam Cicciarello and
John Billinis and #3 doubles pair of
Hugo Cossais and
Fernando Esteban blanking their opponents.
Wilder Noyes won a three set marathon 6-4, 4-6, 11-9 in the #5 singles match, while
Michael Osornio took out the Chargers' Andrew Kelly in straight sets for the 5th JWU point.
Paul Canady was the only other Wildcat to finish his singles match, dropping a straight set decision to Cole Scheihing.
JWU's
Erin Weidner and
Kourtney Newton were leading in two singles matches that weren't finished, and
Iyana Barber picked up a win in a walkover. The other JWU point also came in a walkover in the #3 doubles match.
