Charlotte, N.C. - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte volleyball team picked up its first home win of the season on Wednesday night with a 3-0 sweep of Paine College.
The Wildcats won by scores of 25-18, 25-15, and 25-21.
JWU kept Paine at arms length over the first two sets as the Wildcats hit .370 with 21 total kills. Paine responded in the third stanza, and led 20-16 late in the period.
Marion Bataoel then served eight straight points, including three of her five service aces to put the Wildcats on the brink of victory. They would get that win two points later on a kill by
Kalin Lincoln, one of her 7 on the evening.
Ashley Galvis-Escobar led JWU with 10 kills, while
Taylor Green added 8.
Hailie Gordy and
Madison Leslie combined for 25 kills.Â
The Wildcats next travel to Pfeiffer University on Saturday, October 4th for a tri-match with the host Falcons and Greensboro College. Games are at 2:00 and 4:00pm.
