Santa Cruz Downs Men's Soccer In C2C Quarterfinals

Newport News, Va. - UC-Santa Cruz defeated Johnson & Wales Charlotte 3-1 in the quarterfinal round of the Coast-To-Coast Conference Men's Soccer Tournament on Thursday afternoon.

The Banana Slugs scored thirty seconds before halftime to go ahead as UCSC's Kotetsu Horike looped a ball over the head of JWU goalkeeper Colin Starr from the extreme right side of the penalty area. UCSC doubled their lead fifteen minutes into the second half on a Drew Krawiec goal. JWU's Jacobo Arias pulled the Wildcats to within one with thirteen minutes remaining when he collected a rebound from a free kick and scored from twenty-three yards out. The Banana Slugs added a penalty kick goal with three minutes left for the final margin.

USCS outshot JWU 18-13 on the day. Eugenio de la Parra Polina led the Wildcats with three shots, one of which was on target.

JWU finishes the season at 10-7-3.
