Front Royal, VA - Host Christendom College defeated Johnson & Wales Charlotte 72-61 on Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders used a 7-2 un over the final two and a half minutes of the first half to forge a five point halftime lead, 33-28. They then sprinted out of the gates to start the second half, building their lead to seventeen points with 15:27 to play.Â
The Wildcats used their defense to get back into the game, holding Christendom scoreless from the 14:00 mark to the 9:55 mark of the half, cutting their deficit to 5 during that stretch. Two
Ethan Smith free throws with 4:51 left knotted the score at 57. Unfortunately, the Wildcats went cold from that point, scoring just 4 points the rest of the game.
Malcolm Warthem led the Wildcats with 11 points, while
Nathan Meshida had 10 points off the bench.
