Greenville, SC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte won it's second straight game on Saturday as they held off Bob Jones 77-75.
JWU started the game outscoring the Bruins 28-12 in the first quarter. The Wildcats shot 57% from the field, led by
Maliah Preston's 14 points. They were unable to sustain that pace in the second ten minutes, making just 5 of 17 shots. Bob Jones trimmed the JWU lead to just nine at the half, 44-35.
The Bruins caught fire in the third quarter, making 10 of 14 shots and outscoring JWU by ten to take a one point lead to the final stanza. Bob Jones built their largest lead of the game at 70-66 with 4:18 to play, but the Wildcats responded with a 9-3 run ove rthe next three minutes to take a two point lead of their own. Two
Joyiah White free throws with 42 seconds left proved to be the winning points.
Preston led all scorers with 23 points.
Jordan Durant had 10 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds.
Samara Mims came off the bench to score 10 points.
The Wildcats wrap up the regular season on Wednesday, February 26th when they welcome Virginia University of Lynchburg for a 6pm game.
