Box Score 2 Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte volleyball team split a pair of matches against Salem and Johnson C. Smith on Saturday.
The Wildcats took on local rivals Johnson C. Smith in the first contest of the day, emerging with a 3-1 win. The first two sets were close, with JWU winning 25-22 and 27-25. The Golden Bulls got on the scoreboard in the third, prevailing 25-12, before the Wildcats recovered to take the fourth 25-23.
Jordan Mann led the Wildcats with a career-high 11 kills, while
Ashley Galvis-Escobar,
Kalin Lincoln, and
Taylor Green combined for 18 more.
Madison Leslie had 18 assists, while
Chanel Garcia and
Marion Bataoel each recorded 9 digs.
JWU took on hosts Salem College in the second match of the day, with the Spirits winning 3-0. Green led the offensive attack, recording 5 kills and hitting .625 for the match. Lincoln added 5 kills, while Bataoel and Mann had 4 each. Leslie tallied 11 assists, and
Hailie Gordy had 6 digs.
The Wildcats return home on Tuesday, September 16th as they host Bob Jones for a 6:00pm match.
