Greensboro, N.C. - Johnson & Wales men's tennis picked up their second straight shutout with a 7-0 win over Guilford on Tuesday afternoon.
The Quakers took the opening doubles match, before JWU rallied to win the final two to earn the doubles point.
Cole Goodman-Gary and
Nathaniel Lawler bested Guilford's Alex Brown and Abdullah El Mouaquite 6-1 in the #2 doubles, while
Justin Wagner and
Fernando Esteban won by default in #3 doubles.
Wagner had to go to a tiebreaker in the #1 singles tilt, knocking off Guilford's George Hardie 4-6, 6-2, 1-0(10-4).
Maxwell Frederick was also pushed to a tiebreak in #2 singles, besting Brown 1-6, 6-3, 1-0(10-4). Goodman-Gary and
Justin Gray were both straight sets winners in the #'s 4 and 3 matches. Esteban and Lawler earned default victories in their singles matches as well.
JWU next travels to Penn State-Brandywine on October 16th for a 3:00pm match.
