Montreat, N.C. - Montreat College defeated Johnson & Wales Charlotte 12-6 in baseball on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cavaliers used a five run second inning to build an 8-2 lead after three innings. JWU scored four runs in the final two frames, but could get no closer than the six run final margin.
Marco Fernandez recorded the first multi-home run game in school history as he hit solo shots in both the third and eighth innings.
Dev Hernandez closed the scoring in the top of the ninth with a two run homer that scored
Jordan Brown . Hernandez, Fernandez, and
Logan Howland each had a pair of hits for JWU.
Julian Hayes pitched two innings, allowing seven runs, while walking five and striking out one.
JWU next travels to Buena Vista, Virginia to take on Southern Virginia on Friday, March 6th. First pitch is set for 3:00pm.
