Alice Lloyd Takes Two From Softball

Pippa Passes, Ky. - Alice Lloyd swept a doubleheader with Johnson & Wales on Friday afternoon.

The Wildcats were held to just one hit in game one. The Eagles scored five runs in the first and added five more over the next four innings. Elizabeth Salazar had the hit for JWU. Mai Tellez-Martinez pitched 2.1 innings, allowing six earned runs.

Game two saw Alice Lloyd score thrice in the bottom of the second before JWU answered with two runs in the top of the third. Katie Murphy and Hanna Ciplickas each scored as a result of Eagle fielding errors. That would be all the scoring for the Wildcats, as Alice Lloyd pitcher Arin Rife pitched four scoreless innings to close the game. Murphy went 2-3 in the game. She also pitched six innings, allowing four earned runs. She walked one while striking out six.

The Wildcats return home for a doubleheader on Sunday, April 19th at 1:00pm as they welcome Mid-Atlantic Christian. Games will be held at Hornets' Nest Park.
