Charlotte, N.C. - Softball wrapped up their home schedule with a doubleheader against Mid-Atlantic Christian on Sunday afternoon.
The visiting Mustangs scored three runs in the top of the first and never looked back in game one. MACU pitcher Cayleigh Martin held the Wildcats to just five hits.
Laila Strawn had two hits and scored the JWU run.
Katie Murphy pitched four innings, allowing seven hits and two earned runs. She walked one and struck out six.
JWU turned the tables in game two. They scored three runs in the bottom of the first and then set a new school record for runs in an inning when they plated seven in the third. Murphy tripled home two runs to start the inning.
Seven Hope added a RBIÂ double during the inning. Strawn then singled with the bases loaded and came all the way around to score after the Mustangs committed a fielding error.
Hope had a perfect 4-4 game at the plate, driving in two and scoring twice. Strawn and
Addison Laney each had three hits, and combined to score five runs while driving in three.
Mai Tellez-Martinez got the complete game victory, allowing five earned runs, walking five and striking out three.
JWU concludes the season on Saturday, April 25th when they travel to Columbia, S.C. to take on Columbia International for a pair of games beginning at 1:00pm.
