Devonne Blackshear

Devonne Blackshear joins men's basketball in the Fall of 2023 as assistant coach.

Blackshear has previously served as an assistant coach at Middlesex Community College in Edison, NJ from 2015-2018, where he specialized in player development through film study and individual skill training. He also worked as an academic advisor in the New Student Orientation Program during his tenure at MCC. His basketball experience also includes serving as the Basketball Operations Director and Player Development Coach at IMPACT Basketball Academy in Las Vegas, NV in 2014-15. While working with IMPACT Basketball Academy in Las Vegas NV he trained various NBA players such as; Marcus Morris, Markieff Morris, Kyle Lowry, Kyle O’Quinn, and Myles Turner.

Blackshear was a four year member of Methodist University's men's basketball team. where he appeared in 91 games, making 31 starts for the Monarchs. After graduating from Methodist, he went on to earn a Masters in Sports Industry Management from Georgetown University.

Head Coach Marc Slade had this to say about Blackshear: "The JWU Men’s Basketball program is excited to welcome Devonne Blackshear to the Wildcat family. Coach Blackshear will be a valuable asset to our program, as he brings a great amount of experience and knowledge from multiple levels. He possesses all of the tools to serve, help, and impact our student-athletes on and off the court.”
