Teddy Bogba

Teddy Bogba was named head coach of Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's soccer on May 22, 2025.

Bogba served as an assistant coach during the Fall 2024 season before being named interim head coach in February. He helped lead the Wildcats to a 6-4-5 record and a third consecutive USCAA National Championship berth.

He began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant at Longview High School in Longview, Texas while he was still a student at LeTourneau University. He ran drills and practice circuits to improve players coordination and skills, and also assisted coaching staff with game play tactics.. He next served as an assistant coach at Youth Dallas Soccer Club from December, 2020 to August, 2021. He relocated to North Carolina in 2022 and took a position as assistant coach at Stanly County FC of the UPSL. In May, 2023, he was named head coach of NC Ballers FC, a Charlotte-based UPSL team. He was responsible for all aspects of the NCBFC program including planning, developing, and running organized practice sessions. He also developed training and exercise programs to meet individual requirements and team play strategies and created scouting reports of opponents. NCBFC won the Spring 2024 Mid-Atlantic Conference championship under Bogba's direction.

"It is an honor to have been appointed as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at JWU-Charlotte, said Bogba upon his appointment. "I recognize JWU as a prestigious university with one of the leading athletic departments in NCAA DIII, and across the nation. My decision to pursue this role stems from a desire to continue providing leadership and positively influencing our athletes and the program. Having had the distinct privilege of serving as the interim head coach this past spring, I developed a strong connection with the team, and we created many memorable experiences together. My core philosophy is: "Do your best when no one is looking. If you do that, then you can be successful in anything that you put your mind to."

Bogba moved to the United States from West Africa in 2009. He matriculated to Ancilla Junior College in 2016 and was part of a conference championship team there. He then furthered his education at Indiana University-East before spending his final two collegiate years at LeTourneau. He made 26 appearances as a defender for the Yellow Jackets, scoring one career goal. Following college, he played in the NPSL, USL2 & UPSL from 2014 to 2022 for six different teams.

JWU Charlotte athletic director Trudi Lacey is happy to have Bogba continue with the team and current group of players. "We are excited to have Coach Bogba join our coaching staff. He is a person of good character and I am confident he will lead our men's soccer program with a strong work ethic and a competitive spirit."

He holds his USSF Grassroots coaching license, as well as the ECNL coaching certification. His USSF D Licensure is pending. He is realizing a lifelong goal of coaching in the collegiate ranks. "I am super excited about joining the JWU's Men's Soccer team staff. It has always been a dream of mine to have the opportunity to impact the lives of college student athletes. There is never a day where I am not grateful for the solid advice and direction given to me during my days as a college athlete. I strive to do the same and even more during my time at JWU. Go Wildcats!
