Hampton joined Johnson & Wales University after spending three seasons contributing in multiple roles at Cape Fear Community College. She began her collegiate playing career at Saint Anselm College in 2012-13 before a season-ending ACL and meniscus injury. During her time there, she tied the single-game assist record with 12 assists and set the single-season assist record with 183. She completed her playing career at Belmont Abbey College, leading the team in assists during the 2016-17 season and earning Conference Carolinas All-Conference honors.

Hampton earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management from Belmont Abbey College in 2017 and received her M.S. in Sport Leadership from Johnson & Wales University in 2022. A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, she and her fiancé share a daughter.
