Last Saturday, the men's basketball team of Johnson & Wales University traveled to Lynchburg, Virginia and took on the Wildcats of Randolph College. JWU would fall short in the battle of Wildcats.
Johnson & Wales University looked to get back to the hardwood since they had an extended break between games; being that their game scheduled for last Monday versus Randolph College was postponed due to winter weather.
Johnson & Wales looked to record their first win of the new year. However JWU would struggle early and often as they had to immediately weather a 14-0 run, produced by Randolph College to begin the contest.
Randolph College's stifling defense rattled the Wildcats for the majority of the first half. JWU had trouble adjusting to the defensive scheme, and entered halftime trailing by a large margin.
Throughout the second half, Johnson & Wales University began to show spurts of successful execution as they were able to take advantage of Randolph College's defensive pressure.
Johnson & Wales University was paced by Warren Edwards, Willie Perlotte and Nicholas TenEyck, all of whom scored a team-high of seven points a piece. Julian McCants added six points for the Wildcats as well.
JWU takes the floor again on January 19th when they travel to Florence, South Carolina to take on Francis Marion University.
