Battle of Wildcat's Falls In Favor of Randolph College

Box Score

On Thursday evening the battle of the Wildcats took place when Johnson & Wales University took on Randolph College in Charlotte North Carolina.

The Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University were looking to avenge an earlier season loss they suffered at the hands of Randolph College.

Thursday's contest started off with a tight defensive show down as each team struggled to successfully execute their offensive sets.

The first ten minutes of the first half were played within a three point margin, until Randolph College would go on a run led by strong play from Derrick Woods-Morrow, and solid floor leadership from guard Pete Hamilton.

Derrick-Woods Morrow's strong inside play throughout the first half allowed for Randolph College to successfully enter half-time with a sizable lead.

Johnson & Wales University started the second half off with their original starters, as they hoped to spark a run to get back into the game.

After the starters from JWU failed to provide the spark, head coach, Lamont Franklin, would turn to his bench in hopes of finding some type of offensive and defensive production.

The reserves answered the call as Johnson & Wales was led by strong play on behalf of forward, Shane Townsend, who recorded his first double-double of the 2010-2011 season with 11 points, and 10 rebounds.

Cedarian Grier and Nicholas TenEyck also turned in solid performances during Thursday's contest recording 12 and 8 points respectively.

JWU would cut into Randolph College's lead multiple times throughout the second half; but the Wildcats of Randolph would ultimately hold off Johnson & Wales University numerous rallies, and go on to record the victory over JWU.

The Wildcats of Johnson & Wales University will host their final home game of the 2010-2011 season on Saturday February 5 when they play host to the visiting Bobcats of Lees-McRae University.

Game time for Saturday's contest is scheduled for a 2:00pm tip-off, the game will be held at Ovens Athletic Center at Queens University. Come out and support your Wildcats as the complete their home game schedule for the 2010-2011 season.
