Wildcats Lose on the Road at William Peace

Box Score

Cary, NC – A goal by Johnson & Wales midfielder Danielle Doyle wasn't enough to prevent a 6-1 loss for the Wildcats at William Peace University on Tuesday.

Doyle, a freshman, scored the lone Wildcats tally in the 66th minute of an assist from sophomore Larissa Barnes.  She has now scored in each of her first two appearances for Johnson & Wales (0-2).

A five goal swing in just over 20 minutes would prove decisive for William Peace (1-0).  Goals in the 25th, 35th, 41st, 42nd and 45th minutes would send them into halftime with a 5-0 lead.  The Pacers would tack an insurance goal on in the 83rd minute to complete the scoring.

Megan Horsfall made 11 saves for Johnson & Wales in the losing effort.

"We received a good lesson from William Peace on being physically ready to compete and on the importance of being mentally sharp," said Wildcats head coach Matt Hisler.  "I am proud of how our Wildcats responded in the second half.  We must make this lesson permanent and move forward as a team."

The Wildcats will resume play on Sunday when they travel to Raleigh, NC, for a 3:00 p.m. kickoff against Wake Technical Community College.  The match will be played at the WRAL Complex on the Durham Bulls field.
