Women's Soccer Falls at Home to USC-Lancaster

Box Score

Pineville, NC - Three first half goals were the difference as the Johnson & Wales women's soccer team fell 3-0 to USC-Lancaster at the OrthoCarolina SportsPlex on Wednesday.

The Wildcats (1-3) hadn't played a competitive match since a 1-0 win at Wake Tech on Sept. 6 and struggled early to find their form.

Lancaster scored in the 21st, 24th, and 38th minutes to claim a lead they would never relinquish.

"I thought the team was rusty after having two games cancelled on us," said Johnson & Wales head coach Matt Hisler.  "We were much better in the second half, but the slow start made the hill a bit too high to climb this time.  I'm confident the girls will build on the second half and find a better level Friday."

Kylie Priddy finished with 17 saves on the day for the Wildcats, who will travel to Swannanoa, NC, on Friday to play against USCAA foe Warren Wilson.  Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
