Early Goals Costly for Women's Soccer at CIU

Box Score

Columbia, SC - Two goals in the first 16 minutes proved costly for the Johnson & Wales women's soccer team as they fell 3-0 on the road at Columbia International University on Wednesday.

The Lady Wildcats (1-4) found themselves trailing just 1:36 into the match on a goal by Sotiria Tsilionis.  Janie Holland doubled the lead at 15:21, finishing off a combination in the box, and would add an insurance goal in the 64th minute off a header.

Sophomore Kylie Priddy came up with nine saves for Johnson & Wales.  The visitors forced Columbia International goalkeeper Anna Mershon into action twice, with Danielle Doyle and Lana Truese each registering a shot on goal.

The team will resume play on Friday when they travel to Staunton, VA, to play against Mary Baldwin College.  Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
