Women's Soccer Claims 3-1 Win at Warren Wilson

Box Score

Swannanoa, N.C. - The USCAA #7 Johnson & Wales University women's soccer team claim an important 3-1 win at #19 Warren Wilson College on Saturday, led by scorers Lana Treuse, Grace Newbold, and Danielle Doyle.

The Wildcats (5-3) broke a two-game slide with the victory, limiting Warren Wilson to just one shot on the afternoon.

Truese broke the deadlock in the 37th minute, finishing on the back post after a brilliant solo run from midfielder Jaeden Smith.

Just over a minute into the second half, Newbold doubled the lead, finishing her own deflected shot following a corner kick to make it 2-0.

Doyle would put the match out of reach in the 69th minute.  Truese won the ball deep in Warren Wilson territory, combining with Sade McMullen before bending the ball behind the Warren Wilson backline.  Doyle took a touch to settle before finishing past goalkeeper Katie Milde to make it 3-0.

The Owls would score a consolation goal in the 75th minute through Jayden Savino, but would not be able to cut the deficit any further.

The Wildcats will resume play on Monday when they travel to High Point, N.C., to play John Wesley University.  Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
