Box Score Sumter, S.C. - Seniors Jaquana Pauling and Vanderia Shackleford each posted double-doubles as the USCAA #5 Johnson & Wales women's basketball team won 86-62 at NAIA foe Morris College on Tuesday.
Shackleford finished with a game high 19 points to go with 10 rebounds for the Wildcats (10-4), while Pauling finished with 15 points and 21 rebounds.
Johnson & Wales dominated the boards on the night, holding a 55-36 advantage in rebounding over their hosts.
Keyanne McCray led Morris with 16 points on the evening.
The game started off even enough, with Johnson & Wales leading 23-21 after the first period. However, as the game wore on, the Wildcats began to dominate the post and pull away from Morris.
Johnson & Wales did almost all of their damage, exclusively, near the basket with 29 of their 31 field goals coming from within the arc. The Wildcats led by nine at halftime and would blow the contest wide open in the third quarter, outscoring Morris 22-8 in the frame.
Bianca Covington added 16 points for Johnson & Wales, while Chase Muhammad added 11 points.
The Wildcats will resume play on Saturday when the team travels to Swannanoa, N.C., to play in-state rival USCAA #3 Warren Wilson College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
