Wildcats Outlast Owls In EMAC Opener

Box Score

Pineville, NC - The JWU Women's Soccer Team took the field for their second USCAA Top 10 matchup in as many days. In the EMAC's first ever women's soccer game, The Wildcats emerged victorious over Warren Wilson College, 1-0.

#7 JWU applied pressure to the Owls (3-2) from the beginning of the game. The Wildcats outpaced #6 Warren Wilson in shots, 7-3, and shots on goal, 4-2. Despite the pressure on goal from the Wildcats (3-4), it wasn't until the 85th minute of the game that they finally broke through. Danielle Doyle recorded her 5th goal of the season when her dangerous ball into the box took a bounce over the oncoming goalkeeper. Johnson & Wales' strong defensive effort saw Kylie Priddy collect her second shutout of the season.

"Warren Wilson is much improved and gave us a good challenge to step up to," reflected Wildcats Head Coach Matt Hisler. "I am impressed with the determination of our team. They have continued to push through their difficulty and chosen to encourage each other on. It is important to build on this step forward."

The Wildcats return to the field on Oct. 3 as they host Randolph College at 7:00 pm.
