Men's Soccer Grinds Out 1-0 Result

Box Score

Charlotte, NC - The JWU Men's Soccer Team hosted the Royals from Regent University on Wednesday, battling to a 1-0 victory.

The Wildcats had the majority of possession and opportunities as they outshot Regent 23-2. The lone goal of the game came in the 43rd minute when Ian Triplett finished Chance Wiginton's service. It was Triplett's fourth goal and Wiginton's second assist of the season. JWU would create other opportunities, including two penalties, but would rely on a strong defensive effort to stave off the Royals.

"It was an unusual game. We had some great opportunities, but we have to become a more clinical team," commented Wildcats Head Coach Matt Payne. "We've asked our defense to defend tirelessly for 90 minutes despite the fact that we've outshot our opponent. Once we start to convert those chances, we can become a more complete team. I'm proud of the boys grinding out the result, and hopefully this can allow us to take the next step in our development."

JWU returns to action on October 18th at 7:00 pm when they host Bob Jones University for Family Weekend.
