Women's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision To PIU

Box Score

Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Women's Soccer Team hosted Piedmont International University on Saturday as they sought to avenge a 5-1 loss earlier in the season. The Wildcats showcased great improvement but couldn't quite overcome the Bruins as they fell 1-0.

Hayden Pacheco's goal for PIU (7-6-1) in the 30th minute was all that separated the two teams on Saturday. The Wildcats, ranked #3 in USCAA D2, were outshot 10-6, but Sarah Bartlett's five saves kept them in the game. Delaney Benito and Lana Truese each registered two shots for JWU (5-6-1), with Brooklyn Cathey adding another on frame.

"Although the result didn't go our way, I am proud of the team's effort," commented JWU Head Coach Matt Hisler. "Our women have shown great growth over the last few weeks, and they continued that progression today. It is important we take this forward and raise our level of play."

The Wildcats will host Christendom College for Senior Day on October 26th at 1:00 pm.
