Men's Soccer Wraps Season With Shutout

Box Score

Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales men's soccer team blanked the Coker reserves 4-0 on Sunday to end the season with a two game winning streak.

The Wildcats (6-10) controlled the run of play for much of the early portion of the game, but missed a chance to go ahead when Diaje Hart pushed a penalty kick wide of the goal in the 28th minute. JWU persisted in their pressure against the Cobra defense, and Cristian Marroquin finally put home a rebound to give the Wildcats the lead with 7 minutes to play in the first half.

JWU struck again less than five minutes into the second when Brandon Greene ran onto a Josiah Davis through ball and slotted it past Coker (2-5-2) keeper Jasper Rump. Davis added a goal of his own in his final collegiate game in the 62nd minute, and Franco Ferreira Grezzi notched his first collegiate tally two minutes after that.

The Wildcats outshot the Cobras 29-2 on the afternoon, putting 13 of those on goal. They also earned 15 corner kicks to just 1 for Coker.
