Box Score Columbia, SC - Lauren Burch tied a school record with 5 goals as Johnson & Wales cruised to a 14-0 win over Allen on Saturday.
Burch opened the scoring for JWU (6-7-2) in the fourth minute of the game when she took a pass from Maira Teruel and scored from the left side, beating Allen goalkeeper Eden Billups-Campbell. Burch added goals in the 33rd and 45th minutes to complete the first half hat trick. Katie Douglas, Eboni Montague, and Brooklyn Cathey also registered first period tallies for the Wildcats.
Douglas opened the second half scoring with her second goal of the game, again assisted by Teruel, and went on to complete her first collegiate hat trick with an 86th minute strike. Karen Cruz-Rangel scored consecutive goals in a thirteen minute span for her second and third tallies of the season. Burch assisted on Trinity Knauf's goal in the 75th minute, and then scored twice in a three minute span to also tie Danielle Doyle for the most points in a single match with 11. Montague closed the scoring with her second in the 88th minute, giving the Wildcats four multi-goal scorers on the afternoon.
The Wildcats put 28 shots on goal, while Allen (0-13) could muster only 1. Leah Bragaw made the lone save in her 79 minutes of action before yielding to Jah'Asia Pernell.
JWU next heads to the USCAA National Championshios in Virginia Beach, VA, where they will first take on top seeded Paul Smith's College on Friday, November 12th at 2:30pm.
