Box Score Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte Volleyball team played host to Ferrum College on Tuesday night. The Wildcats set a new season high with 88 digs in their 3-1 win.
The Wildcats (6-2) cruised to a 25-18 first set win, only to have the Panthers return the favor in set 2, 25-16. Ferrum (2-7) controlled much of the third set before JWU rallied to tie the score late in the stanza before scoring the final two points in a 26-24 win. The fourth set was also a back and forth affair that JWU ended 26-24 on a Kaitlin Jaromin kill.
Demya Scott led the way for Johnson & Wales on the evening, posting 11 kills, 2 service aces, and 14 digs. Emily Arends added 8 kills, 4 service aces, and 11 digs. Jaromin totaled 9 kills on the night, included the clinchers in both the 3rd and 4th sets. Isabelle Lemaster tallied 4 kills and 3 solo blocks, while Lynasia Felder added 23 digs to bring her USCAA-best total to 122 for the season.
"I was thrilled with the way we played tonight," said Coach Phillips postgame. "The team continues to develop in a positive manner that will serve us well throughout the rest of the season."
JWU takes to the road on Thursday when they travel to Rocky Mount, NC to take on NC Wesleyan at 7pm.
