Box Score Charlotte, NC - Trinity Knauf scored twice for Johnson & Wales on Friday as the Wildcats picked up their first win of the season in a 4-1 win over Hollins.
After Hollins' goalkeeper Catherine Bussani turned away several early Wildcat shots, Emily Richard finally opened the scoring when she redirected a Daryl Monticello pass into the back of the net following a scrum in front of goal. Hollins (0-2) tied the score eight minutes later when Madisen Charles collected a ball near midfield and dribbled into the six yard box before beating Leah Bragaw into the far bottom corner.
Knauf got into the act just before halftime when she rocketed a ball into goal from 25 yards out. She would score again 5 minutes into the second half to pad the Wildcat lead (1-3). Katie Douglas provided the final margin with her first collegiate goal in the 60th minute.
Johnson & Wales registered season highs in both shots (28) and shots on gaol (17). Knauf had 8 of those shots, while Richard took 5, and Douglas added 4.
The Wildcats have a quick turnaround as they head to Macon, GA today for a 5pm kickoff against Wesleyan College.
