Quakers Edge Women's Soccer

Box Score

Greensboro, NC - The Johnson & Wales Women's Soccer team traveled to Guilford on Tuesday night to take on the Quakers at a rain-soaked Armfield Athletic Center. Guilford prevailed 1-0 in what is already the fifth one goal or less margin contest for JWU this season.

Defense was the order of the evening, as the teams combined to only muster 10 shots in the game. Each team had two solid scoring chances. Guilford hit the crossbar in the first half, while Breann Evertsen's shot 11 minutes into the second half was saved by Quaker keeper Khaliah Jones. Guiford (6-1) finally scratched in the 61st minute when Crystal Rivas ran onto a deflected pass and muscled the ball into the net. JWU (1-4-1) nearly tied the score in the game's final 5 seconds when Trinity Knauf's shot hit the bottom of the crossbar but bounced back out into the field of play.

Evertsen had two shots, one on frame to lead JWU, while Leah Bragaw made 6 saves in goal.

Johnson & Wales returns home to take on Allen University Sunday night at 7:00pm at Corvian Community School.
