Greensboro, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte Women's Soccer Team ended a 664 day layoff Saturday, as they opened their 2021 season on the road against the Greensboro College Pride. The Wildcats played well throughout the game, but came up just short in a 2-1 defeat.

The Pride (1-1) opened the scoring in the 11th minute, but JWU answered before the half hour mark as Lauren Birch scored her first collegiate goal. Greensboro took the lead again four minutes later and carried that 2-1 lead into the halftime break.

JWU played Greensboro to a stalemate in the second half, but were unable to find a tying goal before time expired.

The Wildcats have a quick turnaround as they are on the road again today, traveling to Mary Baldwin for a 2pm kickoff.
