Box Score 2 Takoma Park, MD - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's soccer team took on Penn State Mont Alto and Washington Adventist over the weekend as the Wildcats embarked on their final road trip of the season.
On Saturday against Penn State-Mont Alto, the PSUAC leaders scored within the first two minutes of each half to build a 2-0 lead, and added an insurance goal in the 74th minute. The Wildcats were outshot 17-11 by the Lions, and were unable to get any of their 7 on target shots past goalkeeper Kiaya Mouer. Lauren Burch led the attack for JWU, putting 4 of her 6 shots on frame. Katie Douglas added three shots as well. Leah Bragaw made 12 saves in goal for the Wildcats.
JWU then traveled just north of the nation's capital on Sunday to take on Washington Adventist University. Again a Wildcat opponent scored early in the match as the Shock's Madeline Meija put WAU in front just six minutes in. Lauren Burch equalized five minutes after halftime, and then out the Wildcats ahead in the 87th minute. She again recorded 6 shots in the match, equalling her total from Saturday. Douglas and Trinity Knauf added 4 shots each, five of which were on target. Bragaw made 5 saves to pick up the win.
The Wildcats are 3-9-1 on the season, while Penn State-Mont Alto is 5-5, and Washington Adventist is 2-8-1.
JWU returns home on Saturday, October 22nd, when they host Christendom at 3:30pm.
