Women's Soccer Shuts Out 6th Ranked Christendom

Box Score

Pineville, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's soccer downed 6th ranked Christendom on Saturday afternoon at OrthoCarolina Sportsplex in a battle of top ten teams.

The Wildcats, ranked 9th, and Crusaders spent the first half feeling each other out and growing into the game. The teams were accurate with their chances, as nine of their combined eleven shots in the period were on target. JWU goalkeeper Leah Bragaw and her Christendom counterpart Miranda Keller were equal to the task, making 9 combined saves.

JWU got on the front foot in the second half, and that aggressiveness bore fruit in the 54th minute when Trinity Knauf took a pass from Jessica Ralph, found some space in front of goal, and fired a shot past Keller. The Wildcats controlled the game from that point, holding the Crusaders to just two second half shots.

The goal was Knuaf's fourth of the season. Bragaw picked up her second shutout of the season.

JWU wraps up regular season play on Saturday, October 29th when they play host to Warren Wilson at 1:00pm.
