Box Score Pineville, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's soccer honored five outgoing seniors in a pre-game ceremony Saturday afternoon at OrthoCarolina Sportsplex before putting on a record-setting performance against visiting Christendom College in a 4-0 win.
Seniors Mason Graham, Josiah Davis, Diaje' Hart, James Howell, and Jack Watters were honored for their contributions to the program during their collegiate careers. That group has been part of 42 wins over the last 4 seasons of soccer, and helped set the standard for what the men's soccer program strives to be.
That standard proved to be very high once the game started. The Wildcats dominated the game, setting a new school record for both shots and shot disparity, racking up 47 shots, while allowing only 3 from the Crusaders. Christendom goalie Mark Taylor made six of his 12 saves in the first 25 minutes to keep the game scoreless, but the Wildcats finally broke through at the half hour mark. Ahmed Ghosheh ran onto the end of an Diaje' Hart corner kick and found the back of the net.
Hart scored a goal of his own five minutes into the second half off an assist by Antonino Terranova to double the Wildcat advantage. He then assisted on Erik Martinez's first career goal in the 65th minute. Evan Retzlaff provided the final tally in the 70th minute.
Graham and Howell kept a clean sheet in goal, as two of the three Crusader shots hit the post.
The Wildcats next travel to Gardner-Webb on Tuesday, Oct. 25th for a 7pm match.
