Box Score Pineville, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's soccer ran it's unbeaten streak to four on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 win over Erskine College.
The Wildcats opened the scoring right at the 10:00 mark of the first half when Juan Santana-Urieta collected a rebound off of a corner kick and put the ball on frame. Luke Johnson redirected the ball past Erskine goalkeeper Evan Zizek and into the right corner of the goal. The JWU lead was short lived, as the Flying Fleet's Alex Lopez got loose down the right side of their attacking end, and fired a shot low and away from Mason Graham to tie the score just three minutes later.
Josiah Davis and Santana-Urieta combined to put the Wildcats ahead to stay just two minutes after halftime. Davis played Santana-Urieta in at midfeld, and Santana-Urieta danced around two Erskine defenders in the box. His initial shot was deflected, as was his second, but Davis arrived at the right time to push that deflection home.
The Wildcat defense was able to make that lead stand up in front of goalkeeper Benjamin Burger who came on at halftime to pick up the win.
JWU outshot Erskine 11 to 7, and earned 5 corner kicks to Erskine's 1. Santana-Urieta had 3 shots, while Lucas Lesh and Diaje' Hart had 2 each. Mason Graham started the game in goal and made 3 saves.
The Wildcats have the week off before returning home to host William Peace on Saturday, September 17th at 12:00pm.
