Box Score 2 Virginia Beach, VA - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's soccer team wrapped up their weekend pair of road games on the Atlantic coast with a 2-0 win over Regent University on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats jumped ahead in the game's 11th minute when Diaje' Hart gathered a Regent clearance at the top of the box and fired it into the lower corner of the goal. The Wildcats doubled their lead five minutes later, this time with Hart on the passing end of things. He served a corner kick into the box that Josiah Davis headed past Royals' keeper Austin Stephens.
JWU's defense made the two goal lead stand up, as they were solid in front of goalkeeper Ben Burger, who picked up his first career win in his first career start.
This game followed Friday afternoon's tilt with Cape Fear CC in Wilmington. JWU saw the Sea Devils score twice in the first half to take a 2-0 lead. The Wildcats answered with three consecutive goals in the first quarter hour of the second period. Juan Santana-Urieta scored two of them, and drew a foul inside the penalty area to set up the third. Evan Retzlaff converted the penalty kick to put JWU ahead. Cape Fear found the equalizer later in the half as the game ended 3-3.
The Wildcats return home on Wednesday, September 7th as they host Pfeiffer at 7pm.
