Wise, VA - Host UVA-Wise defeated visiting Johnson & Wales 101-80 in men's basketball action on Wednesday night. 

How it happened:

• The Wildcats led 7-4 early on back-to-back layups from Nathan Meshida and Jaylen Benson-Hollinhead.
• UVA-Wise used a 21-3 run late in the first half to build a 41-21 lead with four minutes left in the period.
• The Cavs then closed the stanza with a 15-6 spurt that gave them a 56-27 halftime lead.
• UVA-Wise's advantage grew to as much as 40 in the first ten minutes of the second half.
• JWU closed the game outscoring the Cavs 35-17 in the game's final quarter.

• JWU falls to 2-1, while UVA-Wise improves to that same mark.
• The Cavs shot 55.1% from the field and committed just 7 turnovers.
• JWU outrebounded Wise 38-32.
