Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's basketball team evened their record at 3-3 with an 89-62 win over Erskine on Tuesday.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the game's first minute, and led by as many as 16 at the 7:11 mark on
Kendall Wooldridge's second three pointer of the half. Erskine closed the half on a 12-3 run of their own to close the deficit to 34-27 at the break.Â
The Flying Fleet hung around for the first ten minutes of the second half as Moses Cheek scored 9 of his 14 points to keep Erskine in touch with the Wildcats. Consecutive three pointers by
Jaben Mars and
Jaylen Benson-Hollinhead sparked a 17-3 run that saw the Wildcats score on 7 of their 10 possessions. JWU went 11 for 13 at the free throw line in the second half to quell any hint of an Erskine rally.
Four Wildcats scored in double figures: Wooldridge and Benson-Hollinhead had 16 each, while
Ethan Smith scored 14, and Jalen Scriven added 10. JWU saw seven different players make a three pointer on the night, as the team went 13-27 from the three point stripe. JWU also enjoyed a 16 rebound advantage on the boards.Â
JWU returns home on Thursday, November 30th as they host Blue Lights College at 6pm.
