Men's Basketball Rallies To Down United International

Charlotte, NC - Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's basketball rallied in the second half to defeat United International College 76-71 on Tuesday night.

How it happened:
  • After trailing 6-2 early, the Eagle Rays used a 21-5 run to open a 23-11 lead in the game's first eleven minutes.
  • Still down double-digits with five minutes to play in the half, the Wildcats cut the UIC lead to 5 with under a minute left despite shooting just 27% in the period and committing 14 turnovers.
  • JWU sprinted out of the halftime break, cutting their deficit to just two at 41-39 on Jaden Scriven's dunk with 15:39 left.
  • UIC responded, pushing the lead back to 10 at 55-45 with thirteen minutes to play.
  • The Wildcats used a 21-3 run over the next six and half minutes to build their largest lead of the game at 66-58. Six different Wildcats scored during the run.
  • Again the Eagle Rays responded and led by three, 70-67 with 180 seconds left.
  • JWU had the final run of the night, scoring 9 of the game's final 10 points to secure the win.

  • The Wildcats shot 60.7% in the second half, and outrebounded UIC 47-36 on the evening.
  • Jaylen Benson-Hollinhead led the Wildcats with 15 points and 9 rebounds.
  • Ethan Smith recorded his first career double-double scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
  • Scriven added 13 points off the bench.
