Raleigh, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball team set several season and program bests in a 75-46 win over William Peace on Friday afternoon.
The Wildcats scored 29 points in the second period, their highest scoring quarter of the season so far, to build a 49-18 lead over William Peace at half. The lead would grow to as many as 41 before JWU settled for the twenty-nine point triumph. The Wildcats were dominant on the glass, outrebounding the Pacers 81-52. The 34 offensive rebounds tied the school record, while the 47 defensive and 81 total rebounds were new school records. JWU also had three players grab at least ten rebounds for the first time in the same game, as
Aimee Evans pulled down 12 boards, while
Samara Mims and
Jordan Durant recorded 10 apiece.Â
JWU spread the wealth offensively, as eight different Wildcats made at least three shots from the field.
Jamyah Blakeney led the scoring with 13 points, while Mims had 11.
Jayla Lovett scored 9 points, and
Sydney Wells had 7.
Gabby Tapley played an outstanding game, scoring 8 points and grabbing 9 rebounds.Â
JWU returns to Raleigh tomorrow afternoon to take on Meredith College at 2pm.
