Men's Soccer Extends Scoreless Streak

Demorest, GA - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's soccer team posted a fourth consecutive shutout in defeating Piedmont 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Wildcats used superb counter attacking to build a 2-0 lead in the game's first 50 minutes as each JWU goal was scored off of quick transition play. Just past the half hour mark, Peter Agelis controlled the ball in midfield and found a streaking Yomar Peguero down the left side of the field. Peguero dribbled around a defender and fired it past Lion goalkeeper Bobby Wood. The Wildcats again worked the left side for their second strike, as Alex Tsoukalas connected on a long ball to Tyler Morgan, who played a perfect centering pass to Andrew Fanelli for the goal. The Wildcats added a third from Agelis in the 74th minute after Piedmont gave the ball away at the top of their own penalty area.

The Wildcats outshot the Lions 21-4 on the afternoon, and earned 11 corner kicks to just 2 for Piedmont. Colin Starr made 1 save in earning his 2nd collegiate win.

JWU is at home on Saturday, September 16th when they play host to Ferrum at 5pm.
