Spartanburg, SC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte cross country teams took on a tough course and loaded field at the USC-Upstate Invite on Saturday.
The race featured NCAA D1, D2 and ranked D3 teams and was held at the Roger Miliken Center in Spartanburg. Sophomore
Logan Shaffer ran a 26:50.7 to finish in 95th overall. His time across the 8k course was the fourth fastest in school history.
Liam Robinson was the second counting time for the Wildcats, as he ran a 27:32,5 to finish 126th.
Dillon Neeley (28:39.2/151st),
Stevenson Barnes (28:43.5/153rd), and
Erick Paz (33:34.9/184th) were the other counting runners for JWU.
Colby Belk (33:41.3/185th), Maliek Chalmers (33:45.7/186th), and
Dylan Michaud (35:03/193rd) also competedÂ
The team score of 427 found the Wildcats in 14th place of 18 competing teams.
Sophia Varela ran the seventh fastest time in program history, posting a 21:34.8 to finish 155th. Jaylnn Wright (27:46/187th) and
Aitana Matuty (28:14.8/189th) were the other finishers for the Wildcats.
The team next competes in the Bruins XC Invite in Greenville, SC on Saturday, 10/26.
