Salisbury, N.C. - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte cross country teams were back at Salisbury Community Park for the second time in three weeks on Friday morning to take part in the Blue Bear XC Invitational hosted by Livingstone College.
The Wildcat men posted their best finish of the season, finishing second to only Virginia Uniion. The Wildcats had three runners finish in the top ten, led by
Jorge Garcia's 17:06.36 time to cover the 5k distance, finishing 4th.
Dillon Neeley ran a 18:07.43 to finish 6th, followed right behind by
Liam Robinson, who finished 7th in 18:11.34.
Dylan Michaud (20:05.18/17th) and
Erick Paz (21:29.09/21st) were the other scoring runners for JWU.
Several of the Wildcat women were making their collegiate debuts in helping the team finish in sixth place. Ava Ferraro was the fastest JWU woman across the 4500 meters, finishing 21st in 25:10.31. Teammate
Aitana Matuty was 22nd in a time of 25:17.28.
Koyah Worthington (31:52.78/31st),
Sophia Zurcher (32:07.65/32nd), and
Nola Soiferman (34:19.24/35th) all ran their first race as Wildcats.
The cross country teams are next in action on October 10th in Charlotte as they run in the Royals XC Challenge at McAlpine Creek Park.
