Rock Hill, SC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte cross country teams took part in the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational on Friday night.
The women finished in 6th place as a team.
Aitana Matuty paced the Wildcats across the 5k course, finishing in 27:01.8 to finish 22nd.
Ava Ferraro wasn't far behind, running a 28:08.8 to come home in 24th place.
Jalynn Wright (29:42.7/29th),
Koyah Worthington (32:15.3/32nd), and
Nola Soiferman (34:33.3/34th) were the other competitors for the Wildcats.
The men raced an 8k distance, and the Wildcats finished in third place with 81 points, just ahead of Coker College's 87 points.
Jorge Garcia shaved over a minute off of his personal best time, finishing 6th overall in 28:05.3.
Liam Robinson continued a strong sophomore season with a 14th place finish in 29:50.1.
Dillon Neeley came home in 20th, posting a time of 31:03.4, while
Dylan Michaud ran a 31:58.2 for 22nd place.
Erick Paz was the final scoring runner for JWU, finishing 30th with a time of 36:00.2.
The Wildcat women are next in action on Friday, October 3rd when they travel to the Gate City to participate in the UNC-G Spartan Classic. The men next run in the Royals XC Challenge at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte on October 10th.
