Charlotte, N.C. - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte cross country teams competed in the Royals XC Challenge on Friday afternoon at McAlpine Creek Park.
In the Women's 5k Blue race, the Wildcats were led by
Aitana Matuty who finished in a time of 25:48.57.
Jalynn Wright ran a 27:24.38 to finish as the second fastest WIldcat, while
Ava Ferraro finished in 29:50.79.
Sophia Zurcher crossed the finish line directly behind Ferraro, posting a time of 30:22.57.
Nola Soiferman was the fifth scoring runner for JWU, finishing in 31:39.02.The women finished in 8th place in the Blue race.
The men's 8k Blue race saw
Jorge Garcia become the second fastest Wildcat cross country runner in history, as he ran a 26:49.16, the third fastest time in program annals. He finished in 24th place.
Liam Robinson finished 54th, posting a time of 27:42.08, while
Dillon Neeley came home 95th with a time of 28:45.70.
Dylan Michaud (30:31.19) and
Erick Paz (35:05.68) were the other scoring runners for JWU.
JWU wraps up their season on Saturday, October 18th when they take part in the USC Upstate Invite at Roger Miliken Center in Spartanburg, S.C.
