Men's Soccer Falls In Penalty Kick Shootout At USCAA's

Corapolis, PA - 5th seeded Johnson & Wales Charlotte played top seeded Central Maine Community College to a 0-0 draw on Thursday afternoon before falling 4-2 in penalty kicks in USCAA National Championship pool play.

The Wildcats enjoyed a 21-14 edge in shots, putting 12 of those on frame, but could not get one across the line. The JWU defense kept them in the game, holding CMCC to just 7 shots on target. 20 extra minutes were not enough to settle matters between the teams, as the match went to a penalty kick shootout.

The Mustangs shot first in the shootout and converted their first chance before the teams traded misses. Niklas Seguin and Jonathan Shembo brought the Wildcats level by making their spot kicks. CMCC then sandwiched two made kicks around a miss from Alex Castro to earn the victory.

The Wildcats now face 4th seeded Penn State-Lehigh Valley on Friday at 10:00am. They are still alive to advance to the national championship game pending results of the remaning pool play matches.
