Charlotte, NC - The Johnson & Wales Charlotte women's basketball team kicked off the 2024-25 campaign with a 68-59 win over Bob Jones on Friday night.
The Wildcats forged a 3 point halftime lead after the score was tied at 16 after ten minutes. De'Asha Crawford provided the halftime margin with a conventional three point play in the half's final seconds.Â
The third quarter proved pivotal in deciding the outcome of the game. JWU outscored the Bruins by 9, 19-10, shooting 56.3% from the field, while at the same time holding Bob Jones to just 4 of 12 shooting.Senior
Jordan Durant had 9 of her 17 points in the period. The Wildcat lead grew to as many as 14 points in the fourth quarter. Bob Jones briefly cut the lead to five at 61-56, but JWU outscored the visitors 7-3 down the stretch.

Laken Powe had a dozen each. Each of the 11 Wildcats that played grabbed at least one rebound. Durant added 7 steals and Crawford handed out 5 assists.
JWU is next in action on Monday, November 4th as they welcome in Columbia (SC) College for a 5pm game.
