Monaca, PA - Johnson & Wales Charlotte's volleyball team rallied to win the first game against defending national runner-up Kent State-Tuscarawas before falling 3-1 in the semi-final round of the USCAA Tip-Off tournment on Saturday afternoon.
The Flashes built an 18-12 lead in the opening stanza and had set point at 24-20 before JWU reeled off six straight points to take the set. The second set took on a similar tone, as KSU-T led by as many as 8 points before the Wildcats rallied at the end of the set to make it close. This time the Flashes had just enough to close it out, winning 25-23. KSU-TÂ would go on to win the final two sets of the match, 25-15 and 25-14.
Ahmrie Yound paced the Wildcats with 12 kills, 22 digs, and 6 blocks.
Kalin Lincoln added 10 kills and 3 service aces.
Loshi Ward tallied 18 assists and 10 digs, while Ayanna Portillo recorded 21 digs.
JWU opens their home schedule on Tuesday, Septmeber 3rd when they welcome Allen University for a 6pm match.
